Skidding Is Greatest Fear

A consumer poll has indicated that half of all drivers in the UK put skidding on wet roads as their worst nightmare.

Almost 1,000 motorists took part in the poll arranged for mytyres.co.uk, and 55% put skidding out of control as their worst nightmare. Breaking down on the road was the second highest fear and interestingly getting a puncture only concerned 3% of motorists.

Road safety campaigners recommend that drivers should not leave their tyres to wear down to 1.6mm – the legal minimum – but should start to consider replacing them at around 3mm.
